2nd Law of Entropy at Work in Real Life

Why does this stuff just pop into my head?

Even though I have an accounting degree and work in the business world, I have a lot of math and science in my background because I was originally working towards a degree in Meteorology. Every once in a while some of these laws and theories jump into my head as I'm just going along in life. It's amazing how much these things can be applied to our real lives as well as science.

Layman's Definition of the Law of Entropy

I'm sure this isn't totally scientifically correct, but I always think of the Law of Entropy as the following:

Everything in order will move towards disorder

Taking an example from science would be water. Ice is water in its frozen state, when you take it out of the freezer it turns to water, eventually this water will evaporate into gas which is steam. You usually don't see the evaporation unless you add heat to the equation and speed up the process.

How the Law of Entropy Affects us in Real Life

Now, take my layman's definition and apply it to things in your own life.

1. You clean the house and 2 hours later the kids and husband have already left their toys and dishes lay around in the living room. If you were to never clean, eventually you would be living in a pile of clutter. Once again you are back to cleaning and then the process starts all over again.

2. If you don't pay your bills, you end up with a real mess on your hands. Stop paying your electric bill for a couple of months and you will eventually be without power which is the natural state of the way things would be without technology.

3. Ignore that big project at work and you will end up without a job. Drop the ball at work and more than likely you will be next up at the chopping block. Once again, you are back at your natural state of not being tied to a time clock.
